Lifting Restrictions on Trump’s Facebook and Instagram Accounts

Trump primarily uses Facebook and Instagram for memes attacking Biden.

Meta  lifted the ban on Donald Trump's Facebook and Instagram during the  US presidential election in November. In 2021,
former president of the United States and criminal accounts were suspended  after praising the supporters of those who attacked the United States Capitol on January 6.
Trump accounts with a total of more than 60 million followers were restored in 2023 but it is being reviewed again and has now been removed, the social media giant said in a blog post.
Meta said it has a responsibility to allow political speech and ensure that Americans have an equal opportunity to hear from voters.

He added that the US presidential candidates "follow the same social norms as all Facebook and Instagram users, including  policies  to prevent hate speech and incitement to violence."  Since returning to the Meta platform, Trump's account has posted campaign snippets and memes, including attacks on his opponent, Joe Biden.  Before it was banned in 2021, Trump's Facebook posts were often  the most popular in the US, according to CrowdTangle data at the time.  Trump is the first  president to be convicted  and  banned from Twitter and YouTube.  Restrictions on  of those accounts were  lifted last year, but despite this, Trump  now links to Truth Social, his own social media site, before reposting it to other sites.  Trump returned to Twitter - today as X - after  CEO Elon Musk  asked users to vote "yes" or "no" on whether to restore Trump's account. "Yes" won with 51.8% of the vote.  officers walk out after riots on Capitol Hill leave five dead and  more than 100 police officers injured. Trump has been accused of inciting violence and  spreading fake news.
