Virginia Man Charged With Threats to Kamala Harris Amid Growing Concerns Over Public Figures’ Safety
A Virginia man has been accused of threatening Kamala Harris on social media shortly after she launched her campaign.
Frank Carillo, 66, of Winchester will appear in court on Monday for threatening messages posted on the social networking site GETTR.
One said Mrs Harris would be called a "flame of life", while another said she would "forever regret trying to be president". . Mr. Carillo was arrested on 2 August. The FBI seized an AR15 rifle, a shotgun and thousands of rounds of ammunition after searching his home.
Investigators allege that Mr. Carillo "willfully and intentionally made threats of death and bodily harm" to Ms. Harris.
According to the federal complaint, 4,359 messages were found threatening individuals or groups, including 19 messages addressed to Ms. Harris. Court documents
revealed other messages, including "AR15 locked and loaded" and threats to "kill all Muslims" and "shoot illegals in the head." The
messages in the documents related to Ms Harris go back to July 27 - the day of her first campaign fundraiser and less than a week after Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed her.
"That's an insult," Mr. Carillo said during a search of his home, according to the document. "I think I need a lawyer."

The investigation began after threats were reported against Maricopa County, Arizona's supervisor of voter registration, Stephen Richer.
Mr. Richer denied false allegations of election fraud four years ago.
GETTR and Google assisted the FBI in the investigation.

GETTR was originally founded by Trump spokesman Jason Miller. He left after joining Trump's 2024 presidential campaign last year.
