Israel strikes Yemen in response to Tel Aviv attack

  Israel  launched airstrikes against the Houthi movement in Yemen, a day after a drone strike hit the city of Tel Aviv.  Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said his country wants to send a message.  "The fire that is  burning now in Hudaydah has been seen in the Middle East, and its importance is clear," he said.  Houthi official Mohammed Abdulsalam  said: "Israel's attack against Yemen".  He said the attack was aimed at forcing the Houthis to stop supporting the Palestinians in Gaza, which he said would not happen.
This is the first time Israel has responded directly to  hundreds of Yemeni drone and missile attacks targeting its territory in recent months.

Video from Hodeidah shows huge fire. The Houthi government in Sana'a said Israel attacked an offshore oil storage facility, as well as a nearby power plant. He said that some civilians were injured.
Mr. Gallant said that the Israeli military planes bombed because they were harming Israelis.
"The Houthis attacked us more than 200 times. The first time  they hurt an Israeli citizen, we defeated them. We do that wherever possible," he said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on Saturday night after the attack that his country will defend itself "by any means".
"Anyone who harms us will pay a  heavy price for their antagonism," he said in a televised speech, saying that the port is the gateway to Iran's weapons.
He also said that he showed Israel's enemies that he had nowhere to go.
An Iranian-made long-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) crashed into a residential building in Tel Aviv on Friday, an Israeli military official said.
The Houthis - more than 1,600 kilometers from Yemen - said they had carried out the attack and promised to increase it.
The attack killed a 50-year-old man who had recently moved to Israel from Belarus and wounded eight others.
An Israeli military official said its security forces had detected an incoming drone but did not attempt to shoot it down "due to human error."
Initially, almost all Houthi weapons and drones fired at Israel  were captured, but it is not known if they reached Tel Aviv. In , although Israel has not bombed the Houthis in Yemen, the United States and the United Kingdom have been conducting an air war against the group for several months to prevent them from attacking Houthi merchant ships in the Gulf of Aden and the  Sea.
